Collaborative learning

Pupils divide into three groups land, air, and sea by guessing the riddles (types of transport). They will get a part of the picture. All the students who have a piece of the same puzzle are grouped together.

Work with vocabulary (differentiated task by work rate)

Students will get cards with tasks:

1)      Match words with pictures

2)      Find definitions of words

3)      Make up sentences using a new vocabulary

Less able pupils match words and pictures

More able pupils should to match words with the definitions

Most able pupils should make sentences with words

Students swap their works and peer assesses each other using the keys. If all answers are correct they show green cards. If all answers are not correct they show red cards by the “traffic light method”.

 

Explanation of the use of prepositions

Note:

by + train/bus /car etc

He came by train.

on foot She left on foot.

in a/h is/her etc car, van, taxi

He came in his car.

on + (a/the) bus, coach, train, ship, plane, boat

He spent two days on a boat.

 

Pupils should make up 3 sentences using prepositions and one by one pronounce it.  Then the groups check each other by the “traffic light method”. If all answers are correct they show green cards. If all answers are no correct they show red cards.

Project work (functional literacy)

They will create unusual mean of transport and present it.

The criteria of the work:

1)      Learners will present the design of transport, give the name of transport, describe the color of transport, say about its speed

Other groups give feedback  two stars = 2 good thinks about the work and one wish= something they can improve to make it ever better
