Organizational moment

Teacher greets students.

At home learners learned illnesses by heart. Teacher checks words.

1)    Playing game. Learners work in groups. One learner from each group comes to teacher and takes cards with words. Then learner should show this word and his team should guess this word.

2)    Teacher gives cards with illnesses and learners work in pairs by asking questions

A: What’s wrong with Saule?

B: She’s got a sore throat.

A: What’s wrong with Kenzhe?

B: She’s got a rash.

A: What’s wrong with Ulan?

B: He’s got a cold.

Focus on vocabulary

Teacher shows a PPT slide with new words. Explain pronunciation and elicit translation. Teacher uses pictures. Teacher drills the pronunciation of the new words. Learners should write down it.

Learners work in groups. At first they read for gist, then for specific information. Each group has its own passage about home remedies.

Teacher gives one of realia (lemon, honey, chocolate) and learners should find information about this realia in the text and retell.

Speaking: Role play

Teacher says: These things in our homes can help us a lot- but remember you have to check with a doctor first.

Learners work in pairs and use experiences from their life to hold a life-like conversation:

Student A imagines s/he has got one of the problems in pre-listening activity and s/he goes to a doctor (Student B). Student A tells Student B what’s wrong with him/her and asks for advice.

Student B imagines s/he is a doctor. Student A has got a problem. Student B asks what’s wrong and gives him/her advice.

Pairs act out their dialogues in front of the class.

Teacher listens attentively and makes notes on the mistakes made by learners then teacher elicits the correct answers from students.

Giving homework

At home students should learn new words and write a text message to his friend
