There are pictures around the classroom hanging on the walls. Each picture related to the number. During limited time students match pictures and words. They mingle around and write the correct number to the word. When everybody is ready, students check answers in pairs and all together with the teacher.

Drill new words. Work out the pronunciation.

In pairs students ask questions about the pictures (new words). For example: What is number 1? It is a bridge.

In small groups students fill the gaps with missing words. Check answers in pairs from different groups and with the teacher.

Using pictures from the story hanging on the board and new words students build sentences and try to predict what the story is about.

Read the story in a circle. In order to follow the text the teacher stops students where she wants and asks another student to continue reading. While students are reading the teacher makes notes about wrong pronounced words.

Stop in the middle of the story. Do some vocabulary exercises related to the story.

Continue reading. In small groups students read the mixed version of the story, they put the story in the correct order. Check answers with other groups and with the teacher.

Finish the story by reading in pairs. Each student has the end of the story without some words. The task is to listen to the partner and fill in the text. Check answers with the teacher.

Divide the students into groups. Kids play a board game. The task is to answer as many questions as possible about the story. When kids place counters on the number which they threw on the dice kids go and find the questions around the classroom, answer the question on a piece of paper. The idea is to collect as many questions as possible, but the champion is the group with most correct answers.

Role play the story in small groups.
